Experiencing Our World

This unit begins the process of introducing young children to Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), Native foods, and Native values. It features Konkow Maidu vocabulary, photographs, and cultural information. Some of the lessons focus on Native food, specifically, the acorn due to its cultural and nutritional importance to Maidu peoples.

  • Observation

  • English and Maidu Vocabulary

  • Coloring

  • Counting and Sorting

  • Cause and Effect reasoning

  • Fine Motor Skills
